Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 3½ cups powdered sugar
- ⅔ cup cocoa powder
- 1½ tsp vanilla extract
- 3-4 tbsp heavy cream or milk
- pinch instant espresso
Instructions
- Place butter in the bowl of a stand mixer and beat on low speed until creamy and smooth. Scape down the sides of the bowl.
- Add 2 cups of the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, espresso, and 2 tbsp of heavy cream.
- Continue to mix on low speed until well combined. Gradually add in the remaining powdered sugar. Add 1-2 tbsp of heavy cream if needed.
- Frost cupcakes immediately when frosting is mixed.
