A Tribute to all Moms

A Tribute to all Moms

Mom. There isn’t a definition for a Mom because it would be way too big for a dictionary. There are so many words to describe a Mom. But the word that comes to mind for me is Love.

I want to say thank you to all the moms out there who are doing what you do, day in and day out. Being a Mom is a tireless and selfless job. I watch mothers raise their children, sometimes alone, and am amazed at where they find the energy. The day never ends. There is always a load of laundry, lunch to be packed, ball games, recitals, parent-teacher meetings, and the list goes on. How do you do it?

For whatever reason, God’s plan for me did not include children, but I would have made a great mom. I want to thank my sister for sharing motherhood with me. She included me in Sarah’s childhood, so I saw firsthand how hard of a job it is. I got to experience and watch the first step, the first tooth, the first of all things that happen in a child’s life. I also want to thank my sister-in-law for including me in experiencing Kristen and Kayla as they grew up. While I wasn’t around them a lot until they were a little older, I was always included in dance recitals, gymnastic routines, Disneyland, and watching them grow into wonderful young ladies.

I lost my Mom at a very young age. I was eighteen and just starting to learn what life is all about. She was 42, I was 18. I have so many good memories and learned so much from her. She left a big hole in many hearts and shoes that no one could fill. She was definitely the glue in our family. Fun would have been a good word to describe her. If we were bored, she always found something to keep us entertained. A lot of times, she would practice songs on the piano for the horse shows. She would have us run around the living room doing the different horse gaits to ensure the rhythm of the music matched. Imagination and creativity were her jam.

No matter where your Mom is or who you call Mom, give them a hug and let them know how much you appreciate them. Yes, there are days when you don’t get along, but Mom is always right in the end.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you beautiful mothers!
